Suit Tailoring Series: Lowering a Suit Jacket Collar

This alteration goes by many names: lowering a collar, maybe even raising a collar, neck roll, bacon neck, you name it, no matter what you call it: if you’ve got tight wrinkles across the very upper back and directly under your collar when you wear a suit jacket this one’s for you!

Typically, the reason for the fabric rolls or wrinkles occurring is a good one; often those individuals with strong square shoulders and good posture are the ones running up against this issue. A great reason but still a problem that needs to be fixed!

We are essentially going to be loosening the upper back and the rounded collar shape to create a little more space and a little more give so the jacket will fit more comfortably over the shoulders, gliding up onto the neck.

Follow along with me in this video below to learn how to completely remove the collar and reset it in a more comfortable position.
